Scott Simpson

Quality Advocate

Hello. I'm Scott.

My core values include truth, logic, efficiency, and taking time to plan. I strive for quality of process, product, and life. Those are the things that are always worth fighting for. I also believe it is the duty of a manager to work for their staff, not the other way around. The most important thing a manager must do is support and enable their team to work effectively.

Currently, I am leading the Quality Assurance (QA) efforts on Magic Leap’s Software Development Kit (SDK) and engine integrations for Unity and Unreal.  In the last 9 years or so, I’ve gotten to help grow an awesome team, help create some amazing hardware and software, and have had countless learning opportunities.

I started out my career doing QA Testing and Analysis and a bit of Developer Support for the now closed Darkside Game Studios.  While there, I got to work with a relatively small group of great people on games like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and the unreleased reboot of Phantom Dust.

Prior to that, I studied a bunch of things and eventually earned a degree in Web and Digital Media Development (an awesome and unique program that was like Computer Science’s weird cousin) from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. I am not an engineer, but I have written some code and am always learning.

If you want to get me talking, some good topics are:
 - The role of QA in games (and the world)
 - Psychology (especially human perception / learning)
 - UX/UI design
- Ultimate Frisbee
- My cat, Finn or dog, Hank
 - Cheese / Wisconsin
